NCAA Men's College Basketball Elite 8

Elite 8 Edition

The final 8 teams battled it out to decide who will be advancing to the Final 4 in Houston.  Oklahoma will play against a hot team in Villanova at 5:00 pm and the first ever 10 seed to make it to the Final 4 plays against a tough North Carolina Tar Heel team at 7:45 pm.  2 ACC teams, Big East, and Big 12 conferences are the representing conferences for the Final 4.  Here's a breakdown of how they reached the round of 4.

East
North Carolina took care of business against Notre Dame.  Brice Johnson has emerged as a start throughout the tourney, finishing with his 23rd double double of the season 25 points 12 rebounds.  Demetrius Jackson held strong for his team but Meeks, Paige, and Johnson are NBA talent that dominated the Irish at the end.

Image result for final 4Syracuse remains as the only 10th seed EVER to make it to the Final 4.  I don't see how anybody would've put the Orange as a finalist in the tourney.  They were led by the hot 2nd half shooting of Malachi Richardson.  21 of his 23 points lifted his team to a surprising upset victory against number 1 seed Virginia.  Virginia led most of the first half by double digits, but Coach Boeheim increased the intensity on defense and sped it up on offense to come back and knock out the Cavaliers 68-62.

West

Image result for final 4Oklahoma is representing the West region after dominating number 1 seed Oregon 80-68.  Buddy 'Buckets' Hield dropped 37 points totalling in 8 threes.  The combination of Hield and Woodard was to much for Dillion Brooks and the Oregon Ducks to handle.  After Brooks stormed on Duke, he dropped only 7 points for the game.  The Sooners needs Buddy to play big if they are to reach the championship.

South

Image result for final 4Villanova will be the South representative after taking care of Kansas in a thrilling 64-59 victory.  The elite stars for Kansas were tough to put away.  Villanova's trio of Jenkins, Hart, and Arcidiancono each scored 13 points.  It was the defense that really pushed this team into the Final 4.  Kansas had a shot at the end to cut it to 1 but great defense by Arcidiancono lifted his team to victory.

NCAA Men's Basketball Sweet 16

Sweet 16 in '16

Each region has produced young stars and talent from teams collectively.  The Atlantic Coast Conference was the biggest winner of this round.  Here's what happened to each team in the round of 16.

Oklahoma beat up on Texas A&M  led be Lee Woodard's 22 points 5 assist and Buddy Hield's 17pts 10 rebound double double performance.

Midwest
Virginia crashed Iowa State's party behind Anthony Gill's 23 points

Domantas Sabonis 19 points and 17 rebounds wasn't enough to top Michael Gbinije's 20 points for Syracuse putting away Gonzaga's season.  Tyler Lydon's 6th block put an end to a back and forth exciting game.

South

Landen Lucas, Wayne Selden jr. and Perry Ellis lead Kansas was to much for Maryland Terrapins to handle.  The Jayhawks continued to show their dominance with their smothering defense.  Perry Ellis was the leader with 27 points in the victory.

Miami never stood a chance against Villanova.  The Hurricanes only had 2 players in double digit scoring against strong performances from Kris Jenkins and Ryan Arcidiancono, both scoring 21 points.

East

Brice Johnson has been a monster during the tournament.  His 20 and 10 outing combined with Marcus Paige's 21 point 6 assist gave Indiana no chance to catch up.

Notre Dame's smothering defense at the end of their game against Wisconsin stole their chances at an elite 8 appearance, turning it into an all ACC matchup in the East and Midwest.
