NCAA Basketball Championship

By now most the civilized world's brackets are busted thanks to some young gentlemen who were either a winner or a loser in their respective games.  Listed below are some from each region.

1st Four Winners and Losers

Of the first four the biggest winner was Wichita State.  They beat a streaking Vanderbilt team in convincing fashion to move on to the round of 64.  Biggest Loser I will have to say Southern University.  They let a 14-19 Holy Cross team beat them!

East

• Winners------Wisconsin, Kentucky, Providence, and Steven F. Austin.                            Kentucky took care of business as expected.  While Wisconsin won a dogfight with Pittsburgh.  Providence won it's game in the final seconds against USC and Steven F. Austin gets the second biggest winner of the first round by knocking off West Virginia which exploded lots of people's brackets.

• Losers -----Michigan and West Virginia.  Michigan entered the tournament as a bubble team just couldn't finish off Notre Dame.  Some people had West Virginia going to the final four.  Their hopes were crushed by SFA

Best Player:  Thomas Walkup scored 33 points, 19-20 from the free throw line helping his Steven F. Austin squad shock the world beating West Virginia.

West

• Winners ---------Oregon, Yale, VCU, and Northern Iowa.  Northern Iowa won its game off an incredible game winning half court heave.  Oregon proves its point to be a number 1 seed with the largest margin of victory.  10th seed VCU and 12th seed Yale accomplished victories over 2 Texas teams (Baylor & Texas).

• Losers --------- Cincinnati, Baylor and Texas.  Cincy lost in the most heart breaking fashion.  Game winning dunk didn't leave the player's hand in time before the light went off.  I felt their heartbreak.  Baylor came in as a heavy favorite while Texas couldn't stop a half court desperation heave.

Best Player:  Paul Jesperson had the half court prayer shot win for Northern Iowa

Midwest

• Winners--------Syracuse, Middle Tennessee, and Gonzaga.  Gonzaga always find a way to win in the tournament.  Syracuse started the season without its coach after a postseason ban last season and comes in hot to beat Dayton.  Middle Tennessee gets the Biggest winner for the 1st round in an ultimate shocker over Michigan State.

• Losers------ Michigan State and Purdue.  Both these Big 10 schools let some brackets down.  A lot of people even had the Spartans winning the entire thing.  Purdue to let a Sun Belt team beat them was saddening.

Best Player:  Josh Haggins- 31 points, 6 assist, 7 rebs, 5 steals.  Filled up the stat sheet with a big win 

South

• Winners -------Kansas, Hawaii, Wichita State, and Iowa.  Iowa 1 of 3 teams to move on to the round of 32.  Hawaii is red hot coming into the tourney watch out for this team.  Kansas got the most points of the round with 105.  Wichita State man handled Arizona, another hot team with lots of experience.  

• Loser-----Arizona one of Pac-10 conference last hopes couldn't keep up with the Shockers

Best Player:  Alex's cousin, Angel Rodriguez scored 24 points and 7 rebounds
